Greek Feta Salad

Hungry, tired, lazy, just want to hit the bed and yet there’s something you must grab? After a long, summer, mundane weekday, that has tried your patience, energy and glucose, this little Mediterranean retreat will surely freshen you up.

Greek Cuisine or Mediterranean cuisine, that shares its cuisine characteristics with that of Italy, Balkans and Turkey, is known for its extensive use of olive oil, olives, cheese, aubergine, yoghurt and herbs. The Greek feta salad or horiatiki salata is a country salad and one of the easiest dish to prepare that although calls for ingredients from the Mediterranean rack, but is unimaginably simple to make and very tough to go wrong with!

  • Cucumber, red onions, tomatoes: ¼, ¼, and 3,
  • cut into half moons, strips and wedges respectively
  • Garlic: 1 clove, minced
  • Lemon Juice: 1 ½ tbsp
  • Capsicum: 1/2, julienned
  • Kalamata Olives: 10-12 whole
  • Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper: 1/4th tbsp each
  • Oregano: ½ tbsp

In a bowl, mix olive oil, lemon juice, oregano, salt, pepper and garlic. In another bowl place all salad ingredients and pour the dressing on top. Garnish with freshly ground black peppers.
