Childhood memories of relishing this dish for an exciting evening snack, flashes through my mind, whenever I prepare the ‘sweetened green gram’. Little did I realise the nutritional value of this dish when mom faithfully served it for us often. With the present generation being equipped with Google access and food blogs, mothers have information on what to give their children. While those days these health beliefs were handed down from generation to generation and that was what took the young ones through their growth, packed with nutrition. Here is a simple, easy, tasty and healthy dish for your children to relish.
- 250 gm green gram
- ½ cup grated coconut
- 2 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp cumin seeds/Jeera
- Wash and soak the green gram for 30 minutes.
- Steam the green gram till soft.
- Add grated coconut, sugar and cumin seeds. Mix well and it is ready to serve.
