Health Benefits of Poppy Seeds

Poppies are colorful flowers, typically with one per stem, including a number of attractive wildflower species with colorful flowers. The flower color of poppy species ranges from white, pink, yellow, orange, red, and blue; some have dark center markings. Poppy Seeds are obtained from Opium Poppy. The unripe heads contain opium but the white or grayish blue seeds do not have any narcotic properties. Poppies symbolize both sleep and death: sleep because of the opium extracted from them, and death because of their (commonly) blood-red color. White poppy seeds form part of the Indian spices. Don’t get me wrong. I’ll take poppy seeds over sunflower seeds any day, but 0 narcotic properties. Your article mentions three narcotic properties. The seeds don’t have narcotic properties, but the outside of the seeds have trace amounts of opium. Good news is they are safe unless you have the decoction. If you eat like a bottle you will feel the morphine to which is probably not good but it isn’t dangerous like decoction or miss information about poppy seeds alkloid content.
