Aloo Poshto- Potatoes cooked in poppy seeds

This is an all time favorite for any Bengali or someone with a love for Bengali cuisine and we’d like to steal and tweak the tag line to suit our purpose- when its Aloo Poshto, no one can eat just a bit. A fine blend of sauted potatoes in a black caraway and green chili seasoned oil and steamed in poppy seed paste, Aloo poshto is a traditional holiday lunch special, or popularly called as “chhutir diner khabar” that’s extremely easy to make and quite easily makes your day.

Procedure:

Poppy seed paste recipe

1. Soak a fistful of poppy seeds in warm water for atleast an hour

2. Drain and grind with salt, one green chili and 1/2 a teaspoon of oil.

3. Cover and keep.
