Thousand Island Dressing

Thousand Island Dressing is a sauce that was named as a tribute to the region that is located Upstate New York. There is a history that lies behind this auspicious and famous dressing. Legend has it that in the 20th century, Sophia LaLonde served her husband’s guest dressing when they arrived for dinner. One of the guests, May Irwin, an actress, simply found it irresistably delicious. She then coined the name ‘Thousand Island Dressing’ and urged the infamous The Herald Hotel to serve this Dressing. Thousand Island was then introduced to the world when Irwin shared the recipe with George Boldt, the owner of Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City. The rest as they say is history.

Thousand Island can be used as a dip with nachos and other crispy snacks. It adds an excellent flavor to the salad you prepare (bland salads redefined!). This Dressing takes a minimal 5 minutes to prepare and with its crisp acidity, keeps your taste buds tingled till after.
