Pind Balluchi, Gurgaon

My husband took me there on my Birthday and one reason was both were new to Gurgaon and didn’t know of better options. It’s one of the many places in Delhi/Gurgaon serving Indian food smothered in thick, over-spiced gravies.

The owners have taken great pains to give a simulation of rustic rural Punjabi setting. So as you enter you see ornate doors, choir cots and heaps of hay with statues of Rural Punjabi farmers in bullock carts.

The water is served in heavy brass glasses, the menu is on a slate, there are earthern lanterns hanging from the rafters, the seating is on wooden tables. There are mirror works on the walls, which look like they are caked mud walls.
The food was just ok. We had a stuffed mushroom, but the mushrooms were undercooked. We ordered for Makai ki roti, paneer tikka, Tadka daal and since there was excess salt in Makai ki Roti it had to be replaced. There are very limited options on the menu for the non-veggies. The service was also ok. Often you have to serve yourself, and give a reminder before the dish you’ve asked for arrives.

The goodness of the place begins and ends with ambience that’s it, but that’s not why people go to restaurants.
