BreadTalk Group Limited is a listed bakery based in Singapore and was founded in April, 2000. It operates a chain of retail outlets through its subsidiary BreadTalk Pte Ltd, selling a wide range of bread, cakes, buns and pastries. The Group currently has branches in Indonesia, Hong Kong, the People’s Republic of China, Philippines, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, India, South Korea, and Bahrain.
BreadTalk stores have characteristic BreadTalk signboards and brightly lit store interiors. A novel concept that BreadTalk has is its “see-through” kitchens, often located next to or within the retail outlet, separated from the main retail space by transparent glass panes, allowing the public to view the kitchens. The reason for doing this was that it would promote confidence in their hygiene quality and food standards.
The variety of breads, pastries etc are truly amazing to view and to taste. The staff is courteous and prompt, all dressed in uniforms, caps and gloves. Some vegetarian products are glazed with egg white, thus not making it really “vegetarian” – and they have marked this very carefully in their displays. Try out their melt in the mouth muffins- chocolate, blueberry, banana, etc. Their strawberry cheesecake will lure you by its beautiful glazed look. Also try their black forest cake. They also have a wide range of puffs, croissants, mini pizzas all equally delicious.
The only downside is that they are expensive. They can do well by reducing the price a bit.
