Dana Choga: For Curries, Kebabs & Chinese Food

A farewell party for a friend led us to Dana Choga. It’s a restaurant started by a couple in 1984 in Gurgaon. It’s one of the options for Curries, Kebabs and Chinese food. The ambience was ok, nothing remarkable.

For starters, we ordered Paneer Tikka Shashlik and Crispy Lotus Stem (slices of lotus stem dipped in batter and deep fried) which was delicious. One friend wanted the Lemon coriander soup. Though I was apprehensive about its taste, that too was good. Especially now that winter’s setting in, the hot soup refreshed whoever took spoonfuls from our friend’s bowl. For Salads, we ordered the crunchy peanut salad. For the Main course there was, Dal Makhni, Mutter Kumbhi (Peas & Mushroom Gravy), Malai Kofta, Vegetable Biryani, Laccha Paratha, Butter Naan, Ajwani Paratha (with a meager sprinkling of Bishop’s weed over the normal paratha) and Pudina Paratha

Though the restaurant has Chinese food too, we did not sample that.

All in all the good was good. We were surprised when the waiter refused to serve us and we ourselves had to serve each other.

Two shops away in the same building in the Dana Choga Kebabri which specializes in Kebabs and Kathi rolls. The bill came to around Rs 1000 which was decent enough. They have home delivery too.
