One warning before you venture into 5 Spice is ‘Go in a big group’. Their serving portions are sumo-like and 2 people just won’t be able to finish off any single dish unless they have sumo-wrestler like appetite!! I had luckily gone there in a group of 4, but since we had nibbled on some things before arriving there, we still couldn’t finish off our share.
We had been to the Fort branch of the restaurant. The ambience was good with wooden interiors with Chinese décor.
One thing I noticed is the waiters couldn’t understand all your questions and even we couldn’t comprehend their accent very well. So each sentence had to be repeated twice to be sure that they’ve understood it right. We ordered Crispy Vegetables as starters, which was a platter of assorted vegetables dipped in spicy batter and deep fried and Shantung noodles (flat noodles) for the main course. Both tasted awesome. We were already struggling to finish the main course because of the quantity when a friend suggested we stop and move over to the desserts which is a must have if you visit the place. We ordered for Death by Chocolate which was simply out of the world.
A would definitely call the place a great value for money with great Chinese food. But as I said earlier do go with a big group of friends to enjoy it all the more. The bill also wa pretty reasonable for the quantity served.
