This is a simple, tangy and tasty salad for all potato lovers. Be it party time, travel, picnic or surprise guests, it has to be potato time. This versatile vegetable somehow finds its way, in one form or the other, in the menu for the day. The home maker looks upon thankfully at the potato, as this is a favourite with kids and the aged alike.
The best part of the popular and palatable potato, is that it blends well with any ingredient or vegetable and also has very high nutritional value. It contains proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals. I just love trying out recipes with potatoes and this is one of them. We enjoyed this simple salad with bread, soup and soup sticks for dinner.
- 3 medium potatoes- boiled, peeled and cubed (optional-mashed)
- 1 large onion- chopped
- 1 large tomato- chopped
- 1 green chilly- chopped
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Black salt to taste
- 1/4 tsp black pepper powder
- 2 tsp fresh cream or whipped cream(optional)
- 1 tsp chopped coriander leaves for garnish
You can also use 4-5 freshly ground black pepper corns in place of black pepper powder and can replace black salt with ordinary white salt to prepare this aloo salad.
- Mix all the above ingredients and toss. Serve hot or cold.
