Prawns Patal bhaji

“The easiest, NO OIL recipe ever”–Shirley Waradkar

Ingredients

  • 500 gms prawns
  • 1 cup thick coconut milk
  • 1 cup chopped dudhi ( white gourd)
  • 1 cup chopped tomatoes
  • 1 cup chopped spring onions
  • 1 piece of tamarind
  • 1 tsp of turmeric
  • chilli powder and salt to taste.

Procedure

Take a clean kadhai and add chopped white gourd, tomatoes and spring onions. Add a cup of water and let it simmer. As the vegetables cook on a slow flame, add prawns and turmeric, chilli powder and salt to taste. Cook with cover for another 15 mins. Prepare in another vessel the gravy by mixing coconut milk with channe ka atta and the juice of a tamarind (small piece). Add this to the simmering vegetables and prawns, and finally add water to make it a lttle watery. Let cook without cover for 15 mins. Serve hot with rice or rotis. ( Juice of tamarind is available by mixing tamarind in water)
