Tofu

Tofu is generally associated to Japanese or Chinese cooking but is slowly gaining popularity all over the world. Did you know that it is a bland cheese made from soya bean curd?! In a health conscious world, tofu has captured its rightful place since it is low in calories and cholesterol, while high in calcium, protein and iron. In fact, tofu helps in lowering the LDL cholesterol levels and improving the HDL cholesterol level. It is easy to digest and so can be on the menu for all ages, be it just a sandwich stuffing or for curries and soups, grilled or even in salads.

And what more, just one serving of tofu contains 15 percent of the daily requirement of omega -3 fatty acids. This makes it a boon for vegans. Tofu thus helps to ward off anaemia, reduce the risk of osteoporosis, breast cancer, prostrate cancer, menopausal symptoms and builds strong bones and teeth. So did I hear that right?…yea, Tofu for dinner tonight!
