So, what exactly is a flan? A flan is an open pie that has a short crust pastry base and a custard filling. More like your mum’s old-fashioned caramel pudding.
How does it taste like? A smooth custard-y, flavorful bite that keeps you going for more!
Citrus Pumpkin Flan
Time taken: 30 min
- Sugar: 2/3 cup
- Butter: 2 tbsp
- Beaten eggs: 3
- Canned pumpkin: 3/4 cup
- Condensed milk: 1 tin
- Sugar: 1/4 cup
- Pumpkin pie spice: 1 tsp
- Finely shredded orange peel: 1 tsp
- Vanilla: 1 tsp
- Blend everything in a blender, except the butter and 1/4th cup sugar.
- In the same dish that you’re going to make, pour butter and 1/4th cup sugar. Heat it on an open flame until caramelised. Now pour the flan mixture in it and bake for 25 min at 120F.
- Cool and invert to serve.
