Applesauce: A yummy sauce for Autumn!

With the slight chill in the air, our hearts are automated to call for everything warm and dreamy. Take this rich, yummy, sweet and tart apple sauce, for instance. It was an immediate response to the question, “Something yummy and warm?”, when asked during idea session in the Slurrpy Kitchen. The choice was a good and everyone seemed to agree!

Applesauce

Ingredients:

  • Cooking apples (peeled, cored and quartered): 2-3 cups
  • Lemon zest: 4 lemons
  • Lemon juice: 4 tbsp
  • Cinnamon stick: 3
  • Dark brown sugar: 1/4 cup
  • White sugar: 1/4 cup
  • Salt: 1/2 tsp

Method:

In a saucepan, boil away everything except the lemon zest and cinnamon sticks,  till it becomes thick. Remove from heat, add cinnamon and lemon zest, mash a bit and enjoy warm or chilled.
