Avena or Batida de Avena or oat meal shake is an extremely energizing health drink that tastes nothing like a health drink should! Best part is, this tasty gulp is actually a complete breakfast in itself and can be straight had after work out, bed or with dunked biscuit for a fuller tummy. Also, oat being flavorless and colorless, you can add various flavors, colors and add on-s to go with it. Here’s the recipe for the most basic.
- Oats: 1/4th cup
- Water: 1 cup
- Milk: 1/2 cup
- Sugar/Honey: 1tbsp
- A pinch of salt
- Ice cubes
- Cook oats in water, with a pinch of salt till done. Cool and keep it aside.
- In a blender mix cooked oats, milk, honey/ sugar and ice cubes together and serve in a high ball.
- Add fresh strawberries / cocoa/ almond/ vanilla/ fresh cream/ banana or any fruit or flavor you like.
