Avena- A healthy, kick starting potion

Avena or Batida de Avena or oat meal shake is an extremely energizing health drink that tastes nothing like a health drink should! Best part is, this tasty gulp is actually a complete breakfast in itself and can be straight had after work out, bed or with dunked biscuit for a fuller tummy. Also, oat being flavorless and colorless, you can add various flavors, colors and add on-s to go with it. Here’s the recipe for the most basic.

Ingredients:

  • Oats: 1/4th cup
  • Water: 1 cup
  • Milk: 1/2 cup
  • Sugar/Honey: 1tbsp
  • A pinch of salt
  • Ice cubes

Procedure:

  • Cook oats in water, with a pinch of salt till done. Cool and keep it aside.
  • In a blender mix cooked oats, milk, honey/ sugar and ice cubes together and serve in a high ball.
  •  Add-on
  • Add fresh strawberries / cocoa/ almond/ vanilla/ fresh cream/ banana or any fruit or flavor you like.
  • Enjoy!
