We are excited to tell you all that our revamped food website Slurrpy is launched! As it is a happy occassion for us, we are doing a lot of sweet recipes right now, and more so because the Indian festival of Ganesh Chaturthi has arrived.

Lord Ganesha loves to eat. There are a number of sweets that Ganesha’s devotees make, in order to please the Ganpati. Ganesh Chaturthi is a very popular festival in Maharashtra and Karnataka. Ganesha’s two favourite sweets – laddoos and modaks – find many interesting variations in sweet shops, with home-bakers, home-cooks and chefs, and in passionate foodies’ kitchens. By the way, do try the Konkani Patholi on the first day of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival. It is a traditional sweet dumpling steamed in a turmeric leaf envelope. Patholi is a very healthy Indian festive dessert eaten on the Ganpati day. The stuffing is a layer of sweetened, grated coconut encased in a rice-powder-based modak-like covering that is absolutely flat. The sweet gets a characteristic aroma from turmeric leaves.

Talking about foods for the Ganpati festival, we thought we would also suggest you a few recipe of sweets which you can make quickly during Ganesh Chaturthi. These recipes are not just for the Ganesh Chaturthi Day, but these are recipes that you would like to enjoy any time of the year. We are sure Lord Ganesha will love the food offering more when their devotees make these themselves.

Happy Ganesh Chaturthi 2015 to all our readers. We know, those who have a sweet tooth like Lord Ganesha, don’t really need an excuse to eat sweets!
