You know what? Now that Fall is lurking around the corner, our hearts want to do a little jig and sip coffee and cinnamon rolls, while we watch Julia Child and drool at her copper pot wall, her new England accent with heavy breathing and get marveled at real cooking! Come on, when did boning a duck become a luscious affair. Throw it like a shot-put, whatever you don’t need, that, my dear friend is real cooking. You are a cook, not an actress!

Having mugs of this in one of the crème de la crème café, on a pre-autumn evening, we decided that this should be recreated in our Slurrpy kitchen. Best part is, we got so carried away in tasting that we hardly did remember to shoot it. A non-caffeinated girl saves the day!

Here’s what we used.

Ingredient:

One vanilla pod

A cup of milk

A cup of water

Half a cup of cream

2 tbsp of instant coffee powder

5 teaspoon of sugar

Procedure:

Split the vanilla bean and scrape the pods

In a bowl, mix milk, water, vanilla pods and set to boil.

In a cup beat coffee powder and sugar until creamy, light and frothy

Spoon coffee mixture into cups, top it with boiled milk and sugar. Stir in the cream.

Serve with choco chip, whipped cream, cakes or stand alone!

**Note: This recipe is tried and tested and you’ll see the delight when you create café like coffee at home without a cappuccino machine!

Bon Appetit!

Best part is, this tasty gulp is actually a complete breakfast in itself and can be straight had after work out, bed or with dunked biscuit for a fuller tummy. Also, oat being flavorless and colorless, you can add various flavors, colors and add on-s to go with it. Here’s the recipe for the most basic.

Oats: 1/4th cup

Water: 1 cup

Milk: 1/2 cup

Sugar/Honey: 1tbsp

A pinch of salt

Ice cubes

Procedure:

Cook oats in water, with a pinch of salt till done. Cool and keep it aside.

In a blender mix cooked oats, milk, honey/ sugar and ice cubes together and serve in a high ball.

Add-on

Add fresh strawberries / cocoa/ almond/ vanilla/ fresh cream/ banana or any fruit or flavor you like.

Enjoy!

Can we sing a song before we introduce you to this amazing recipe?

Here, we’ve only got one rule:

Never ever let it cool!

Keep it cookin in the pot,

You’ve got- Hot choc-o-lat!

Hot! Hot! Ooh, we got it!

Hot! Hot! Hey, we got it!

Hot! Hot! Say, we got it!

Hot chocolate!

Remember that song from Polar Express? Wouldn’t it be great to have a pot of eternally brewing hot chocolate in your kitchen. I have a thing for those kinda movies which preach good things about hot chocolate. I wouldn’t mind dying of a hot chocolate overdose either! Returning from this very humorous statement, here’s to you, the polar express Hot Chocolate recipe

Ingredients:

Cocoa powder: 1 tbsp in heap

Sugar: 1/4th cup

Water: 1/2 cup

Milk: 1 quart

Procedure:

Boil the first three ingredients in the list to a semi thick mixture. When it boils, add a quart of milk and stir. Top with whipped cream and black rice or marshmallows.

Hee-Ho!

Irish Coffee or Caife Gaelach is a very tempting cocktail that stirs three heavenly liquids: Coffee, Irish whiskey and Sugar. And believe it or not, this easy to make drink, or as it may seem, is very easy to get wrong and can quite be a sweet disaster or a whiskey flavored coffee if you are not paying attention. I do not want to sound intimidating but the probability of getting this delicate drink wrong for doing nothing really drastic is quite high. Also some people like to believe that the secret of a perfect cup of Irish coffee lie in the glasses, where you are forced to use the correct amount of ingredient.

Anyhow, out of all the tempting coffees in the world, Irish coffee undoubtedly claims its place amongst the top 10. In fact to some, it may even top the list. And while some people might consider this to be a wastage of 3 wonderful drinks, Irish coffee is indeed a splendid drink that goes quite right with cookies and mood swings!

Ingredients:

1 oz Irish Whiskey

5 oz fresh-brewed coffee

2 tea-spoon brown sugar

2 tbsp heavy cream, not sweet

Procedure:

Ideally in an Irish coffee mug or in a long stemmed glass, pour the brown sugar. Pour whiskey and top it with freshly brewed coffee. To this, spoon 2tbsp of heavy cream.

Delicious Irish Coffee is ready to be thoroughly enjoyed.

Healthy? – Check.

Interesting? – Check.

Soothing? – Check.

But what in the name of God is a Matcha Latte! It could a latte or a drink spiked with Ice (not alcohol, mind you – Matcha Latte is a drink designed to rejuvenate the mind, not something which makes you go bonkers). But since we are abiding by the ‘Latte’ theme on Slurrpy this month, we’ll explore the frothy side to this drink.

Made from tea leave that are grounded to finesse, this one’s a sure winner. For those who aren’t equipped with latte gadgets, I’ll give you a bounty of two recipes. So give it up for the Japanese concoction of Matcha Latte!

Ingredients:

¼th teaspoon Matcha powder

Milk

A packet or two of sweetener or Honey (You can also opt for any preferred flavors or syrups to adjust the taste)

Recipe 1:

Pull out your coffee mug and add the Matcha powder to it. Moisten the powder with a few teaspoons of water.

Blend it well in a latte whisk machine so as to remove any possible lumps from the mixture.

Now add in the sweetener or honey to the same.

Meanwhile heat milk on your stove and consequently stir it. When it starts simmering, whisk the milk briskly until it becomes lathers up.

Pour the milk into your mug which holds the tea mixture. Be sure to whisk the drink while pouting in the milk. The Matcha Latte has now reached a yummy shade of jade.

Serve.

Recipe 2:

This one incorporates the use of a microwave and easy to dish out.

This time throw in the Matcha powder in your mug.

Add your preferred choice of sweetener to the mug.

Add boiled milk to fill up the mug.

Stir.

Dust the brim with a little Matcha.

Heat the mix in your microwave for around 2 minutes. Watch out for any signs of foaming for you’ll have to bring it to an impromptu stop.

Serves: Just the one

Preparation Time: 2 minutes
